Conroe police officer critically injured after tornado destroys Trinity County home

CONROE, Texas — A veteran Conroe police officer was left fighting for his life after a tornado touched down in Trinity County Sunday night.
Lieutenant James “Jimmy” Waller and his wife were at their property near Trinity when the tornado hit. Their mobile home was destroyed and Waller was critically injured. As of Monday, he remained in the hospital. According to the Conroe Police Department, Waller will need multiple surgeries and he’s looking at a lengthy recovery.
Waller’s wife, Adela, was also injured.
A neighbor said he found the injured officer under debris and his wife in a pasture.
On Monday afternoon, the National Weather Service confirmed that an EF-1 tornado hit the Rock Creek subdivision.
Waller is a 22-year veteran with the Conroe Police Department.
The Conroe Police Officers Association set up a GoFundMe account to help the family.
